Course content
Lectures follow information gained in the course: Diplomatics I. Students will be noticed about certain differences, especially in a material structure, methods and literature. Lectures are focused on the selected various types of diplomatic material (of king, aristocratic, municipal etc. administration). Except for characteristic features of diplomatic materials, lectures will deal with the offices and their documents. Some seminars will also take place in archives in Brno and Olomouc - all of them will be supplemented with the orientation in the material sources in these archives. Lectures will be enriched by knowledge of various kinds of diplomatic materials from the Czech lands. Students will be acquainted with documents of public and municipal administration etc. HF

Learning outcomes
The aim of lectures is to acquaint students with basic terms, methods and literature of late medieval and early modern diplomatics. A student should get basic knowledge of diplomatic sources of the most important institutions in the field of public and municipal administration. The aim of seminars is to teach students to distinguish types of diplomatic sources in archival funds of various institutions, to classify them, to describe them, to compile them and to make them accessible. Students will be also familiar with various edition rules used for medieval and early modern administrative documents and the most important editions of medieval and early modern diplomatic sources. Students learn to know basic diplomatic and historical sources of the administration in the Czech lands till 1848 and to work with them. HF
Prerequisites
The knowledge of current script reading and basics of German language for reading materials in original. The knowledge will be proved when working with sources and writing a paper (3-5 pages). Reading of Czech texts for chosen classes - 20-30 pages. HF

Credit requirements: Attendance and writing a paper (topic: The diplomatic description of a document). HF
