Course content
The course consists of two parts: the overview of the recent development of historical thinking and the analysis of the current stadium of the historical research. The attention is given to the diverse historical schools or streams (Annales, historical antropology, microhistory, cultural history, gender history etc.), the most important historians (F. Braudel, C. Ginzburg, P. Burke, etc.)and their influential works as well as typical topics (folk culture, inquisition, confessionalisation, women´s history etc.). These clasical conceptions will be compared with the most recent historiography. Passages of concrete works with the respect to a context of their origins, primary sources and methods will be analyzed in lessons as well as discussions about selected theoretical works os some authors (e.g. M. Foucault etc.). HF

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with some current significant trends of the Czech as well as world historiography of early modern period. This course was established under the terms of the project Innovation of Historical Sciences Studies at Palacký University, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0025. HF
Detailed orientation in the history of the early modern period.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the medieval history on the level of Bachelor graduate.

Student performance

Active participation, preparing for lessons, reading of the assigned texts, participation in a discussion. HF
