Course content
The course is made of guest lectures given by external specialists who will acquaint students with current practice. Students will learn about up-to-date trends in methods and technologies used in institutions working in the fields related to the studies of history - such as museums, archives, heritage-preservation institutes, libraries etc. Knowledge and competences required for the work in these institutions will be presented, and topical issues and problems will be discussed. Topics planned for this ac. year are as follows: - Presentation of cultural heritage to the public - Digitization and microfilming - Cooperation of the archive with regional memory institutions, schools and associations - Museum and programmes (not only) for children - Maintenance of castle collections ? everyday practice, guardianship, digitization - Gallery and exhibition preparation ? scholarly work accompanied by bureaucracy - Heritage preservation and its limitations - Presentation of contemporary history in the newscast of the Czech Television PZ

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
The course aims to make MA studies (often quite theoretical) close to practice. External specialists from various institutions related to historical disciplines will be invited to give lectures and acquiant students with modern trends in their work, so that students can be better prepared for entering their future jobs.
Student knows everyday practice in the institutions and jobs which are close to the studies of history. He/she has the knowledge of modern methods and technologies used in museum, archive, monument-preservation and other work. He/she knows current trends and problems in this field.
Prerequisites
The course is for bachelor and master degree students of historical disciplines.

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay, Student performance, Dialog

Student must attend guest lectures and be prepard for each classi.e. study reading assignements, and actively participate in the class discussions.
