Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the problematics. Delimitation of the region. Natural environment in the past and today. Reconstruction of historical communications. 2. History of research in Central Moravia. Regional bibliography. 3. Towns of Central Moravia. 4.-6. Olomouc in the Middle Ages. 7. Uničov in the Middle Ages. 8. Litovel in the Middle Ages. 9. Fortifications of Early Middle Ages in Central Moravia. 10. Fortifications of High and Late Middle Ages in Central Moravia. 11. Graveyards of the Middle Ages in Central Moravia 12. Medieval villages in Central Moravia. 13. Exploitation areas and workshops, archaeology of sacral buildings, legal archaeology. Seminars: 1. Introduction - Assignment of topics for research work 2.-13. Presentation of research works.

Learning outcomes
Subject Historical Archaeology in Central Moravia familiar detailed with region Central Moravia in Early and Late Middle Age. Lecture give us conceive overview of settlement history of region, detailed presentation of the most important central Moravian sites (Olomouc, Litovel, Uničov etc.). Seminar give us more information about themes of lectures and cooperation with students in active research on information of selected archaeological sites by creation of research and its next presentations.
Knowledge of archaeology of given region, archaeological cultures and important sites of Cental Moravia, composing of a scientific text (research work) about archaeological sites in selected region.
Prerequisites
Basic overview of the Middle Ages.
