Stone-Age sources - a model exploitation site (Kalábková). 5. Bronze-Age to Early Iron (Halstatt) Period- a model settlement site (Golec). 6. Prameny doby bronzové až halštatské - a model burial site (Golec). 7. Prameny doby bronzové až halštatské - a model exploitation site (Golec). 8. Proto-historic-Period sources - a model settlement site (Hlava). 9. Proto-historic-Period sources - a model burial site (Zeman). 10. Proto-historic-Period sources - a model communication monument (Zeman). 11. Interpretation of textual sources in relation to archaeological sources for Latene and Roman Periods in barbaricum (Koucká). 12. Interpretation of textual sources in relation to archaeological sources for the Migration Period(Koucká). 13. Presentation of essays.

Learning outcomes
This course will focus on the issue of prehistoric and protohistorických sources (mainly immovable) and on their interpretation in the context of prehistoric and early historical development in Europe. The course will be divided into four main parts: the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Hallstatt, protohistory and ancient to early medieval written sources. For work with the sources, there will be used key locations from three main periods (Stone Age, Bronze Age and Hallstatt, protohistory). For each section of this historical example, there will be selected locality,- settlemental, sepulchral and other (religious, communicational, exploitational, etc. - according to the issues througout individual historical periods). On the selected examples (exemplar) locations (eg.: for Roman period Mušov) will be archaeological and historical sources interpreted from different aspects. Special attention is given by lecturers in different forms of objects, their identification and classification. The fourth part will will discuss the meaning and interpretation of historical (written) sources for protohistorical settlement in Central Europe beyond the borders of ancient world. The aim of this course is to acquaint students with various types of sources and their interpretations, and to create in them the ability of analysing and criticism of the sources in the context of archaeological, historical and environmental research.

Basic orientation in the problem of archeological cultures and chronology, acquired in the bachelor programme.
