Course content
The presented topics expand students' knowledge of geographical and digital cartography and bring information from other areas of graphic design, prepress and other aspects of cartographic design. The presented information is practically oriented and is a starting point for the implementation of exercises and seminar work. Topics taught include: 1. Development of computer graphics and map graphics 2. Basic principles of graphic design 3. Introduction to DTP, software tools 4. Map printing techniques, color models 5. Vector graphics and its processing 6. Raster graphics and its processing 7. Advanced typography 8. Prepress and standards 9. The most common mistakes in practice 10. Modern trends in visualization and cognitive aspects

Learning outcomes
The course provides detailed information about cartographic design. The main aim is to teach students basic theory and mainly show them the implementation into the practice of map design process.
Students will acquire skills in the creation of computer design and its use in the map design.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is a basic knowledge of cartography.
