Course content
Main themes: state (territory, independent state, typology of states) and border (classification and typology of borders, border conflicts), development and contemporary state of world political map, basic geopolitical theories (Heartland theory, theory of pan-regions, Heartland-Rimland theory, Cohen's geopolitics, contemporary geopolitical conceptions), geography of power (zones of interest, geo-economic competition, state security), global cultural and civilization factors of policy and issue of pan-regions, transnational regions and interborder regions.

Learning outcomes
Course will acquaint students with basic concepts of political geography. Tutorial is aimed at application of theoretical knowledge on concrete examples (students elaborate and present political-geographical characteristic of selected state and characteristic of selected international conflict).
Recall basic terms and concepts used in political geography.
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge in geography.

Written exam, Student performance

Colloquium is written, it tests theoretical knowledge from lectures and practical capabilities from tutorials.
