Course content
Position of the territory of the Czech Republic in the geological structure of Europe. Basic units - the Bohemian Massif and Western Carpathians. Overview of the main geological units in both main geological complexes and their characteristics. Main geotectonic stages of their development.

Learning outcomes
Overview of the main geological units in Bohemian Massif and Western Carpathians and their characteristics.
The students should be able to: " define the position of the Czech Republic in the geology of Europe. " describe the principal systems - Bohemian Massif and Western Carpathians, the main geological units of both systems and their characteristics " define the main geotectonic stages of the development
Prerequisites
Knowledge of rocks, general geology and geography of the Czech republic.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Entry requirements: completion of a basic geology course (basic of the mineralogy, petrography, general geology). The course is designed primarily for students of higher grades bachelor's degree. Credit requirements: essay on a given topic, presentation of the essay, basic knowledge of the regional geology of the Czech republic.
