Course content
1. Geological preparatory works - stages of geological survey 2. Survey - prospecting (dug holes, ditches, drill holes), evaluation of sonding works, documentation, geophysical methods of exploration 3. General tasks of engineering geology - breaking characteristic of rocks, workability of rocks, classification of rocks based on their workability and bulking 4. Exploration of foundation soil - task of exploration, project of exploratory works, classification of soils for foundation of buildings, subsoil water on the building site 5. Slumps and landslides - definition of terms, classification of slumps and their evolution, methods of study, analysis of slumps, reclamation works and measures precluding emergence of slumps 6. Geological background for exploration of deposits of building materials and foundation of quarries - preliminary survey, primary exploration, principles of quarry founding, quarries and preservation of nature 7. Tasks of geology in individual branches of civil engineering - structural and industrial buildings, transport buildings, tunnels 8. Geological exploration for water buildings - preliminary geological surcey, detailed survey, exploration of the flood land and its imperviousness
