Learning outcomes
|
The course presents key case studies concerning the relations between theatre and politics in postwar Czechoslovakia. Its main intention is to show and examine the ways theatre interfere with political practice. Special attention is paid to staging of classical drama an to a broader sphere of public theatricality and performativity in the 1960s.
The students will acquire the skills and potentials of analysis of theatre phenomena, they will learn to work with dramatic text as with the sources of information about staging practise of the period. They acquire ability to characterise art production principles, staging and acting style, they should be able to connect the troupes and outstanding personalities with their respective historical context.

Prerequisites
|
The course is meant for students who have already attended or attend the course from the Czech theatre of 20th century.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Seminar Work
The students have to attend at least 75% of the lectures. Every student will have to present their papers and to discuss the relevant topics.
