Course content
The course is taught every odd Thursday. The cycle is divided into five separate teaching blocks taught by experts on the given topics. The individual thematic blocks will be divided into a lecture and a follow-up seminar. The content and topics of the individual lectures and seminars will be specified in Moodle at the beginning of the semester.

Learning outcomes
Head Teacher: Mgr. Lukáš Kubina, Ph.D. The lecture series focuses on the most current trends in contemporary theatre practice, as well as on key themes and issues explored in contemporary theatre studies. Emphasis is placed especially on exploring theatre art in the context of interdisciplinary, intermedia and intercultural overlap. It mainly reflects on the latest foreign theatre-performative productions and forms of their reflection and seeks to characterize and contextualize them in relation to current theatre theories.
Upon completion of this course, the students will: - acquire knowledge of the terminology, basic historical milestones, personalities, and groups in contemporary Czech and foreign theatre; - acquire knowledge of the theoretical concepts related to the contemporary performance culture; - be able to classify and explain the latest trends in various areas of contemporary theatre in the context of current social and political tendencies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Students actively participate in lectures and seminar discussions. They will be required to prepare for individual classes as instructed by the lecturers. The course will be completed with credit after the submission of a 5-page seminar paper. The seminar paper must fulfill the requirements of an academic text (coherent formulation of ideas, abstract, use of Czech and foreign literature). It is recommended to consult the focus of the paper in advance with the individual teachers, or with the head teacher.
