Course content
Basic facts about climate change, links between social and environmental aspects of climate change. Theoretical paradigms for understanding culture in the "new climate regime" Turning attention to non-human actors and objects and infrastructures (Timothy Morton, Bruno Latour, Donna J. Haraway, Jussi Parikka) Artistic Institutions in the Capitalocene Reflections on the connection between institutional and infrastructural conditions of cultural operation and climate change 'Green' transformation of theatre institutions and transformation strategies in the performing arts sector. Representing the crisis: images of the Anthropocene and their performative nature Aesthetics of the Anthropocene: ecocriticism, ecodramaturgy

Learning outcomes
The course aims to explore and understand the relationship between the performing arts and the climate crisis. It focuses on basic philosophical and aesthetic concepts related to the Anthropocene, aspects of the sustainability of theatrical operations, and aesthetic practices of representing the climate crisis and the relationship between the human and the non-human in current theatre.
Students will gain basic information about the climate crisis and its social and environmental aspects, about the ways in which theatre institutions can adapt to climate change, and about aesthetic practices for portraying reflections of current social challenges in the Anthropocene. Students will also practice group work, speaking, and critical and creative thinking.
