Course content
The concept of marriage in Western and Eastern traditions. Other forms of common life: free cohabitation, trial marriages, etc. Preparation for marriage and accompanying of spouses after weddings. Undesirable circumstances of an inception of a marriage (impediments, defects of consent, the incompetence in civil legal level of the officer ...). Required way (form) of celebration of marriage in the past and in the present. Solutions of difficult marital situation from the perspective of the Canon Law (disparity of religion and mixed marriages, separation of spouses, dissolution of marriage, divorcees living alone, divorcees living in a civil marriage) and the Czech family law (divorce: custody of minor children, joint assets and the settlement). Penal law level: domestic violence, child and partner endangerment, etc.

Learning outcomes
Understanding the challenges of marriage and family, with an emphasis on current issues from the perspective of the Canon law and the Czech family law, following the conclusions of the Synod of Bishops on the family.
Students use the acquired knowledge in counseling and in their socia service.

No special prerequisites are required to study the subject.

Orientation in the pressing problems of conjugal and family life.
