Course content
Beginnings of the professional terminology. Alphabet, division of (speech) sounds, pronunciation of these sounds and their groups, length of the sounds, and accent. Word types, nominal and verbal flexion. Genders of nouns. Ordinal, cardinal, distributive, and multiplicative numerals. Description of a body, head, torso, upper limbs, lower limbs. Description of the organ systems in Latin. The most common medical terms.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Grasp the professional language and demonstrate an elementary knowledge of Latin; - Comprehend the content of the professional medical terminology from the logopaedic point of view; - Apply the basics of Latin grammar, especially morphology; - Utilize the knowledge of the language necessary to comprehend and correct the usage of medical terminology.
After passing the course, students are well instructed in Latin medical terminology.
Prerequisites
The discipline is meant for the students of logopaedics.
