Course content
Anthropogenesis. Theory explaining human evolution, classification of humans in animal kingdom, differences and similarities between humans and primates. Genesis and development of primates, hominid genesis theory, hominization process, sapienization process and modern man genesis theory (monocentrism, multiregional theory). Ontogenetic human development. Prenatal and postnatal development processes, effect of genetic and environmental factors on growth and development of an individual. The effect of negative external factors on embryo and fetus during pregnancy (teratogenic factors). Rules of bodily growth and development process and problematic of development changes in Czech population (generalized acceleration, secular trend). Methods of assessing biological age and its relation to chronological age of an individual during individual phases of ontogenetic development and assessment of somatic state and development of children and young adults (predictability of somatic development).

Learning outcomes
Course objectives After passing this course students should be able to: -complexly characterize anthropogenesis, - describe physical traits of human races, - define development phases, prenatal and postnatal development, - characterize growth and development changes in every phase of ontogenetic development, - describe basic development changes of an individual, - explain the effect of internal and external factors on human development in accordance to rules of bodily growth and development.
Passing this course is the basis for studying other disciplines of anthropology.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in disciplines of biology.

Written exam

Written essay on given topic relating to development anthropology.
