Course content
Principles of communication. Active listening. Empathy. Congruence. Unconditional acceptance. Communication with difficult clients. Communication with aggressive clients. Communication with depressive clients. Communication with suicidal clients. Silent communication with clients. Specifics of communication with oncology patients. Specifics of communication with clients on artificial ventilation. Specifics of communication with regard to the age structure of clients.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
  • Attendace - 13 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 37 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to: - define the principles of communication, - explain the basic communications terminology, - clarify the nature of the specifics of communication with selected groups of clients in the healthcare facility, - analyze differences in communication in the age structure of clients.
After completing the course the student is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in nursing process in the care of the sick.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites and prior knowledge and understanding of psychology concerning topics of general communication.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Requirements for students will be communicated to the teacher at the beginning of the course.
