Course content
Health: Definition, health definitions development, health in the holistic approach, individual bio-psycho-social and spiritual elements of health. Disease: Diagnostics, diagnosis, symptom, syndrome, etiology, pathogenesis. Body?s response to stress, forms and course of illness. Autoimmune and degenerative diseases. Health determinants: Internal and external factors, lifestyle risk areas. The principle of civilization diseases occurrence. Safe community: Safe school, safe classroom, injuries prevention in children. Health Education at primary schools: Integration and cross-subject relations. Health literacy. Health promotional programmes Healthy School (principles and philosophy, basic rules) Health promotional programmes Health 21 Activation method as part of health promotion Topics for seminar theses, group projects, students? individual work: The issue of SMOKING ? addiction occurrence (psychological, social, physical), the development of smoking in the CR, legislation in the CR, health risks of smoking, cigarette smoke composition, etc. The issue of ALCOHOL ? addiction occurrence (psychological, social, physical), the development of alcohol consumption in the CR, legislation in the CR, health risks of heavy drinking, social and psychological impacts of alcoholism. Alcohol as a socially tolerated drug. A child in the family of an alcoholic. ILLEGAL DRUGS ? classification according to effect, application, level of risk. legislation in the CR. The risks of addictive substances abuse. Issues of rehabilitation and treatment ? primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. ADDICTIONS ? pathological gambling. STRESS PREVENTION ? relaxation techniques. Types of stress, stressful situations, stress management, Eustress and distress. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ? aerobic and anaerobic physical activity, optimum physical stress, types of sports activities, positive and negative consequences of physical activity. Physical activity as prevention of civilization diseases. Lifestyle topics ? HIGH RISK SEXUAL BEHAVIOURS. NUTRITION ? principles of healthy nutrition, diet regime, diet-related diseases, eating disorders, obesity in children, food allergies, preferences and aversions to foods, alternative forms of diet in children, drinking regime.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is for students to be introduced to the contents of the education field Health Education, as well as its sub-determinants. Students will acquire knowledge about the value of human health, impacts, which determine human health in a holistic approach. They will learn to understand Man as a complex and individual bio-psycho-social and spiritual being. In the broad context of this concept, they will learn about health and unhealthy lifestyles, and their impacts on human health. They will enter the issues of preventive programmes, which promote maintaining health, as well as programmes such as A Healthy School, etc.
The acquaint with content of this academic subject and with sectional determinants of subject. Students are acquaint with knowledge about the value of human health, about effects they determining human health in a holistic approach. Knowledge of projects about health supporting (Health 21, Health 2020, Health School and so on).
Prerequisites
This subject is destined for students of discipline teaching health supporting with focus on education. The necessary is to register and graduate in 1. year of studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Seminar Work

PC work, Internet connection. 80% attendance of seminars. Active participation in seminars. Work on an assigned project or a seminar thesis.
