Course content

1. Multicultural nursing care, multicultural diagnostics; 2. Ethnic, culture; 3. Spirituality, faith, religious practice; 4. Basic characteristics of select ethnic, culture and religious groups; 5. Initial findings for possible adaptation of the nursing process of clients with regard to the specifics of their ethnic, culture, and spirituality.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this subject is to teach the terminology of transcultural nursing ethnicity, culture, spirituality, belief, religion. The students whose major are medical subjects are taught the basic features of chosen ethnical, cultural and religious groups. Furthermore, this subject gives them fundamental knowledge to be able to provide culturally appropriate care. The subject is meant to be attended by students who foster an interest in studying ethnic groups, cultures and nationalities associated with providing nursing care.
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: - Define the basic system of terms related to the subject (ethnic, culture, spirituality, faith, religion); - Characterize selected ethnic, culture and religious groups; - Apply the knowledge of multicultural nursing care into the practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Dialog, Seminar Work
Active participation in consultations, written work on a selected topic from multicultural nursing (with citation of at least one foreign author - translation from a world language), in range of 5 - 8 pages in A4 format, and colloquium.
