Course content
Terminology (health, disease, health literacy, health determinants, lifestyle, active approach to health, health promotion); medical terminology; theories of health and illness; protective and risk lifestyle factors (notably nutrition and physical activity), noninfectious epidemics as the most common causes of death and their prevention, infectious, degenerative, metabolic and the other diseases, the healthcare system; health services.

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Projection (static, dynamic)
  • Attendace - 4 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 14 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 36 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Following the completion of this subject, students should be able: - to define basic theories and models of health and illness, - to prove basic knowledge of medical terminology, - to explain the determinants of health including the areas of lifestyle, - to explain the etiopathogenesis, therapy and possible ending of chosen infective, non-infective, degenerative etc. diseases, - to describe the principle of prevention (especially primary, resp. general), - to explain principles of healthcare system and levels of distinct healthcare services, - to take on in the name of active approach towards health and responsibility for the health of oneself and others, - to clarify the relationship of a teacher regarding the health protection of pupils, - to prove a possession of elementary knowledge of projects and programmes created with idea of health support.

Prerequisites
For students of the Health education. After graduating of related disciplines.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Each student prepares a seminar paper on a given topic (max. 5 A4 pages) and deliveres in the LMS Unifor least a week before granting tests. Check and evaluation of the individual work of a tutor is a prerequisite for acces to the exam. Topics tasks: The concept of health in various models. The concept of disease. The emergence and spread of disease. The influence of lifestyle factors on the health of the individual.
