Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
Children's health, positive and negative trends, the roles of society, health institutions and education in improving health conditions. The course enlarges knowledge in the domain of epidemiology. Students learn about common symptoms of illnesses in pre-school children. They are trained how to cooperate with doctors.
After completing the course, students should be able to: - Characterize peculiarities of the most common health problems of the child's age - Identify the most common symptoms of childhood diseases - Understand the principles of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of childhood diseases - Understand and be able to apply basic knowledge of the epidemiology of infectious diseases - Respond correctly for selected acute conditions in children.
Prerequisites
The student know biology of children.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam

Ability to work independently with data and printed sources, on-line connection, the elaboration of a seminar paper.
