Course content
Skiing didactics includes a basic and extension programme. Basic programme: - General skiing training (equipment handling, walking, turning, sliding, climbing, falling technique, ski tow imitation). - Specialized skiing training (direct ride, diagonal downhill ride, sliding, stepping, skating). - Turns on a slope (stem ski position). - Stem turns (snowplough, starting in snowplough, starting in stem position, upper ski, lower ski). - Turns on a slope (parallel ski position), moderate and accentuated wave. - Drift turns basic parallel turn, medium parallel turn. - Slope carving turn moderate wave, carving wave. - Carving turns basic carving turn. Extension programme: - Drift turns of various diameters (medium, short, long). - Carving turns of various diameters (medium, short, long). - Modified turns according to snow conditions (jumps, moguls, steep slope, crust, deep snow, ice). - Fungarving, Racecarving. Skiing didactics: - Teaching procedures (direct, alternative). - Didactic equipment (cones, balls, skipping ropes, rings, tyres, spaghetti, short slalom poles, brush). - Riding technique analysis, identification and correction of mistakes (exercise tank). - Use of video in teaching skiing. - Slalom pole as a didactic aid (unconventional tracks, obstacle course, multiple poles, parallel slalom, slalom, giant slalom. Snowboarding didactics focuses on the basic programme. - General snowboarding training (carrying, getting on, position (goofy / regular), falling technique, position, turns, jumps, centre of gravity). - Specialized snowboarding training (balancing exercise, scooter, slide, direct movement until stop, braking, uphill climb, riding on a ski tow). - Sliding on a fall line, diagonal sliding (Backside / Frontside). - Riding across the slope, turns, garlands, switch riding. - Drift turns towards the slope (Backside / Frontside). - Basic drift turn. - Drift turn with upside load relief. - Carved turn towards the slope (Backside / Frontside). - Basic carved turn. - Carved turn with upside load relief. - Traversing difficult terrain, jumps. Snowboarding didactics: - Use of didactic equipment. - Riding technique analysis, identification and correction of mistakes (exercise tank). - Use of video in teaching snowboarding. - 'Partner system' method (individual teaching 1 to 1). Methodology - Didactic presentation in a team (training of skiing skills).

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on two sports activities skiing and snowboarding. The aim of the course is to present the methodology and didactics of both sports activities while emphasis is put on training of basic skiing and snowboarding skills. The training programmes are designed to provide the students with the skills in the area of didactics and diagnostics of skiing and snowboarding. Throughout the course the students will use didactic means and corrective exercises in order to correct riding mistakes. The course focuses on observing safety rules and principles and tolerant behaviour among skiers and snowboarders on skiing tracks.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Has a command of basic alpine skiing skills. - Is able to demonstrate basic snowboarding skills. - Is able to identify mistakes in skiing techniques and propose appropriate corrections. - Is able to apply didactic principles and diagnostics in teaching snowboarding. - Knows and observes safety principles on downhill tracks for skiing and snowboarding. - Knows the didactic principles and is able to use them in teaching skiing.
Prerequisites
The course is designed for the follow-up Master's (NMgr.) full-time study of the following courses: Physical Education and Sport (TVS), PE teacher course (TV), Applied Physical Education (ATV), a prerequisite course is Outdoor winter sojourn course (FTK/PZP1) Bachelor's study.

Student performance, Didactic Test, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student, Seminar Work

Credit requirements: Skiing practice: - Medium carving turn. - Parallel slalom race (giant slalom). Snowboarding practice: - Downhill diagonal sliding (Frontside, Backside). - Drift turn with upside load relief. Didactics - Methodological presentation in a team (teaching procedure). - Riding technique analysis (identification of mistakes, video recording). Theory - Written test.
