Course content
|
In the first lesson students are familiarized with basic terminology and are shown how to work with the electronic study material in the LMS Unifor. The rest of the course is based on self-study with the tutor's support through e-learning. The electronic material contains PowerPoint presentations, documents for downloading, links to relevant websites for those who want to learn more on the matter, interactive exercises, written assignments, tests, and further reading. The main chapters of Lexicology, dealing with topics such as word meaning, word formation, lexical relations, etymological survey, register, etc, are dealt with in the lectures. Theoretical principles investigated in the materials are then applied to practice. Understanding the main issues of Lexicology, such as word meaning, word formation, lexical relations, etymological survey, register, etc. Familiarization with all possible types of dictionaries (printed and on CD-ROM as well as on-line) and the British National Corpus.
