Course content
A historic socio-cultural survey of the American literature of the 20th century including postwar, ethnic and contemporary literature.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Methods of Written Work

Learning outcomes
Students will become familiar with the history of the literature of the United States in the 20th century in socio-political and historical context, on the basis of getting acquainted with the work of essential authors and via subsequent analysis of specific lworks of literature, similarly to American Literature 1. Emphasis will be placed on multigenre and ethnic literature with the goal of showing the multicultural nature of American culture and literature. After taking this course students will be able to: -find their bearing within the history of American literature of the 20th century both in theory and on the basis of their own reading of selected works -characterize the main authors and their work in historical context -evaluate the quality of literary texts -interpret the text within historical context, the life of the author and understanding the texts -understand the multicultural environment of the US, the melting pot and interculturality concepts, subcultures and the complexities of globalization

Ability to understand English and use it in reading and writing.
