Course content
A short overview of different stages of British architecture and art in the context of historical and social events. Profiles of the most important personalities and their work. Students will be led through the main schools, movements and trends in the world of art and architecture of Great Britain. During the course, each student will have a short presentation on a work of art or artist of their choice. The topics will include these: Prehistory. The Celts and the Romans in Britain. The Anglo-Saxon art, illuminations. The Normans and Gothic art. Renaissance in England. Baroque art in England. William Hogarth. Thomas Gainsborough, John Constable. William Blake. J.M.W. Turner. William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement. Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Henry Moore. Francis Bacon. Contemporary British art. Students'presentations on other topics.

Learning outcomes
Students will be able to define different stages of British architecture and art in the context of historical and social events, characterise the most important personalities and their work.
Ability to study in English.
Prerequisites
Understanding a lecture and communicating in English.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Dialog, Seminar Work

Active participation in lessons, completion of all tasks and a presentation of student's choice.
