Course content
Social pedagog is a member of helping professions. He should be able to work professionally with people with mental problems and diseases. His work should be based on basic knowledge of the causes, symptoms and social impacts of these diseases. Subject Psychopathology for social teachers continues and expands the subject of personality psychology and psychopathology (is taught at the bachelor level). Its aim is to introduce students to the concept of normality, the causes of mental illness and behavioral disorders, to explain the basic division and symptoms of mental illness according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). The subject will be focused on specifics of work with people suffering from the mental illness or disorder behavior and it also draws an attention to the socio-cultural context of ethical and social aspects and consequences of the disease.

Learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the field of psychopathology - Knowledge of the classification and the manifestations of mental disorder according to ICD-10 - The ability of a specific approach to persons with various types of mental illness
- The ability to understand the basic symptomatology of mental illness - Specific competence to connect mental illness with social aspects and consequences of the disease - The ability to work with a client according to his specific needs

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance

- Active participation in seminars - on the basis of specific case studies students will define the basic symptoms of mental illness, they will think about the work with the client, choose appropriate approaches and also will appoint social aspects and consequences of the disease
