Course content
The course covers basic yoga philosophy and terminology relevant to health care, principles of safe movement and contraindications, and fundamentals of body alignment. Practical training includes breathing techniques, relaxation strategies and basic asanas with modifications suitable for physiotherapy settings. Topics also include spinal mobility, hip and shoulder mobility, stretching and flexibility training, balance and coordination exercises, core stability, and relaxation methods for stress reduction. Attention is given to adapting yoga exercises for common musculoskeletal conditions and functional limitations, as well as to integrating yoga-based interventions into physiotherapy prevention and rehabilitation.

The course introduces students to the basic principles of yoga as a supportive tool in physiotherapy practice. It focuses on safe performance of fundamental yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and relaxation methods, with emphasis on correct alignment, movement control and body awareness. Students will learn how selected yoga elements can be applied to improve flexibility, balance, mobility, postural stability and stress management in individuals with different functional limitations. The course supports the development of clinical reasoning in the selection and adaptation of yoga-based exercises within prevention and rehabilitation programmes.
