Course content
1. Basic technical aspects of medieval book-illumination. 2. The oldes monuments of book-illumination in the late ? antiquity time, book-types, functional use and stylish-formal development in extensiver contemporary context. 3. Book-illumination in the time of Charles the Great (Charlemagne). Its big main centres, book-types, style and influence on the production in the following eras. 4. Medieval book-illumination in France between 11th-15th century in its main devoleping lines.

One-semester cycle of lectures, concentrated on chosen aspects in the realm of Medieval book-illumination according to the preferences of students.
Basic knowledge of art history in Czech and European Middle Ages.
Prerequisites
Subject is designated for students of Master study of History of Fine Arts.
