Course content
Topics: 1. Theory of historical value 2. Protected areas 3. New buildings in historical environment 4. Re-use of monuments 5. Protection of ruins 6. Presentation of archaeological monuments 7. Exhibitions in historical buildings 8. Restoration approaches to torsos 9. Copies, facsimiles and replicas of monuments 10. Institutional and legislative anchoring of state heritage protection

Learning outcomes
Problems of contemporary heritage preservation in praxis. Focusing on the issues of protection of historical towns, restoration of works of art and inventories of monuments. Theoretical reflection of current development of heritage protection as a preparation of students for practice.
Acquaintance with the current state of contemporary practice of state monument care in the Czech Republic and with methods of practical application of valid monument legislation. Knowledge of basic working methods and procedures used in the activities of professional organizations of state heritage protection. Methodology of monument restoration.
Prerequisites
This course follows the previous course Heritage protection 1.
