Course content
1. Czech after-classical Gothic architecture in the first half of 14th century (monastery Zlatá Koruna, church of St. Maurice in Kroměříž, church of st. Anne in Prague etc.). 2. Master of Michle Madonna and his work in Bohemia, Moravia, Upper Austria and Upper Lusatia. 3. House by the Stone Bell in Prague - the royal residence of John of Luxembourg. 4. Bishop John of Dražice - client and donor of art works. 5. The transformation of the iconography in visual arts at the turn of 13th and 14th century. 6. Abbess Kunhuta - female donor of works of art, Passional of Abbess Kunhuta. 7. Illuminated manuscripts of Elizabeth Richeza. 8. Parisian fragment of the chronicle of so called Dalimil. 9. Mural painting in the Czech lands in first half of 14th century. 10. Reports of seminary works of students.

Learning outcomes
The course is divided into lectures and seminars. The lectures will be a focused on the Luxembourg art and architecture in the Czech lands in the first half of 14th century. Seminar part of the course consists in a seminary work elaborated by the students in the field of Czech gothic architecture, sculpture or painting. Topic of seminary work is discussed in advance with the teacher. Students will present their seminary works during the classes.
Basic knowledge of development of Gothic art between 1300-1350 in the Czech lands.
Prerequisites
The course is designated for students of Bachelor study of History of Art.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Credit: Regular attendance and active participation in the seminar, a seminar paper of approved monographic focus and formally correct implementation of the seminary work in the minimum range of 8 pages (+ bibliography and illustrations), oral presentation of paper during the classes in the range of about 20 to 30 minutes.
