Course content
- Classicism in art - Romanticism - Art in the Czech lands in the first half of the 19th century - Historicism - European art centers of the second half of the 19th century - Art in the Czech lands in the second half of the 19th century - European avant-garde - The beginnings of modernist architecture - Interwar period - Trends and tendencies in the art of the second half of the 20. century - World architecture of the second half of the 20th century

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give an overview of the topics of the history of fine arts of the 19th and 20th centuries in the Euro-American context.
Students will gain an overview of European art culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, style tendencies and social context of art. Students will understand historical changes of the language of art and at the same time they will be able to decipher characteristic art features on concrete art works.
Prerequisites
Basic overview of European art history from prehistoric to 18th century.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Written test, verifying the knowledge of lectured topics.
