Course content
- principles ot the photography, technical conditions of the medium, technics of the 19th century and their acception from abroad, Czech photographers ot the 19th century (Franz, Horn, Stašek, Eckert, Fiedler, Fridrich, Bruner-Dvořák, Langhans) - photography in the frames of the painterly expression (Novák, Drtikol, Bufka, Trčka, Binko) - the way to the "pure" photography - avantgard tendencies (Růžička, Funke, Rössler, Sudek) - the second avantgard (Aventinum three, Line, f3, f4, f5) - surreal in the realty (Štýrský, Teige, Zykmund, Koreček, Reichmann, Fuková, Medková)

Learning outcomes
The lecture is largely focused on particular streams of Czech photography of 20th century but also pays attention to the development of the medium in 19th century and world wide context. The aim is to explain the streams and to present the most important authors.
Basic orientation in the history of the Czech photography of the 20th century and in the relationships with the art and with the photography in the world.
Prerequisites
Interest in the history of art and history of photography.

Oral exam, Seminar Work

Seminar paper and colloquium.
