Course content
1. Classicism in French painting of the 19th century. 2. Romantism in French painting of the 19th century. 3. Realism in French painting of the 19th century. 4. Development of the French painting from realism to impressionism. 5. French Post-Impresionist painting. 6. Syntetism and Symbolism, French painting in the end of the 19th century. 7. Classicism and Romantism in the sculpture of the 19th century. 8. Realism and Impressionism in the sculpture of the 19th century. 9. Post-Impressionist tendencies in sculpture of the 19th and early 20th century. 10.German painting and sculpture of the 19th century.

Learning outcomes
One-semester cycle of lectures provides a clear outline of the main trends of European painting and sculpture in the 19th century. Emphasis is placed on the art scene in France and Germany. Transformations of artistic creation are tracked in the broader context of historical and political events and their affected events on the European art scene.
Basic knowledge of the development of European painting and sculpture in the 19th century.
Prerequisites
Ending the first year of the bachelor degree of the History of Art.
