Course content
The lecture occupies at its first part the analysis of buildings, which were very important for the origin of Baroque architecture, St. Peters cathedral in Rome and Il Gesu in Rome. In the following part the Classicist movement of the Roman baroque architecture of 17th century is analysed (C. Maderno, G.L.Bernini as architect, C. Rainaldi, C. Fontana). The main attention is put on so called radical baroque of Francesco Borromini and Guarino Guarini.

Learning outcomes
Outline of beginnings of Baroque architecture in Rome and its development in Italy in 17th century. The lectures put emphasis on work of architects Francesco Borromini and Guarino Guarini.
Basic orientation in Italian and Central European Baroque Architecture.
Prerequisites
The course is proposed for students of second phase of Bachelor study programme of History of Art.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Seminar work on selected baroque building in Olomouc in the Czech Republic or in the range of 5 pages.
