Course content
1. Heliography, Daguerrotype and Kalotype (Niépce, Daguerre, Talbot, Bayard). 2. Wet colodium photography and photography of 60s and 70s (Archer, Disdéri, Nadar). 3. Du Camp, le Gray, Négre, Bisson Brothers. 4. Muybridge, Marey and film. 5. Pictorialism 6. Europian Pictorialism 7. Alfred Stieglitz and Camera Work 8. Avantgarde and photography 9. Constructivism, New Objectivity, Bauhaus aand avantgarde in SSSR 10. Surrealism and photography 11. Social documentary photography (Riss, Hine, Strand). 12. Farm Security Administration. 13. Weegee, Lartigue, Sander.

Lecture

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the development of the medium of photography from its beginnings to the present day. Attention is paid to the technical aspects of photography, the "transformation" of the media in utilitarian artistic medium. She considers the relationship development in the context of development of photo art as a whole.
Students should be able to basic knowledge of historical photographic techniques, he should be able to explain their technological nature and visually identify them. Furthermore, should receive orientation in the history of art photography and get acquainted with the most important personalities and their work in the context of art as a whole. Last but not least, it should understand the specifics Photo - depending on its mechanical nature - and thus a distinctive "reading" the resulting works of art.

Basic orientation in the history of art.
