Course content
Topics: 1.-2. Renaissance sgraffito of the 16th century in the Czech Republic, Moravian town houses. 3. Sgrafito and decoration of public buildings in the 16th century (town hall, etc.). 4. Sgrafito 17th century. 5.-6. 19th century sgraffito. 7. Sgraffito of Mikoláš Aleš. 8. Sgraffito of Jan Köhler. 9. Sgrafito and socialist realism. 10. Modern sgraffito - use of technique after 1989. 11.-12. Restoration of sgraffito plasters in time changes, aspects of the monument care.

Learning outcomes
Summer semester lectures will be syntetically concentrated on sgraffito of the 15th - 21th century. The seminar is focused on concrete selected historical monuments and their sgraffito decoration. Structure of Seminar Work: I. History of Research II. socio-cultural and historical background III. architectural context IV. iconography V. analogy VI. conclusion.
Practical consolidation of knowledges attached in lectures.
Prerequisites
Subject is designated for students of Bachelor study of History of Fine Arts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student

Submission and defense of a seminar paper on a given topic (5-10 standard pages); within the colloquial defense, the student will be contextually inquired about the context of the lectures. Attendance at least 80%.
