Course content
Lecture brings a brief outline of the most important artistic movements and personalities of architecture in the 20th century: secession (V. Horta, A. Gaudí, H. P. Berlage, F. L. Wright, J. Kotěra), neo-classicism (A. Perret, H. Tessenow), expressionism and cubism (H. Poelzig, B. Taut, P. Janák, J. Gočár), purism and funktionalism (Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, H. Meyer, B. Fuchs, J. Krejcar), brutalism (Le Corbusier, group Team 10, L. Kahn, in Czech Republic K. Filsak), modern regionalism (O. Niemeyer, J. Utzon, A. Siza, L. Snozzi), postmodernism (R. Venturi, Ch. Moore), high-tech-architecture (N. Foster, R. Rogers, in Czech Republic SIAL), deconstructivism (P. Eisenman, Z. Hadid) and minimalism (J. Herzog-P. de Meuron, D. Perrault, in Czech Republic E. Přikryl or J. Pleskot). Lecture mentiones also the examples of these movements in Olomouc.

Learning outcomes
Brief outline about the most important artistic movements of the Czech and foreign architecture of 20th century: Modern-style and Secession, neo-classicism, expressionism and cubism, purism and functionalism, brutalism, modern regionalism, postmodernism, high-tech, deconstructivism, minimalism.
Basic orientation in the World and Czech architecture of 20th century.
Prerequisites
Subject is designated for students of Master study of History of Fine Arts.
