Course content
1. Secession, Edvard Munch. 2. Expresionistic painting, the artistic groups Die Brücke, Der blaue Reiter. 3. Wassily Kandinsky. 4. Expresionistic sculpture. 5. The cubist painting. 6. Pablo Picasso. 7. Development of cubistic form in sculpture, Alexander Archipenko. 8. Russian avant-garde , suprematism, construktivism. 9. De Stijl, neoplasticism. 10.Dadaism and surrealism.

Learning outcomes
Two-semester cycle of lectures provides orientation in the history of European painting, sculpture, spatial and conceptual art from the early 20th century after the end of the sixties and extending its attention on the American art scene after World War II. Opinion changes in art are pursued in the broader context of contemporary historical and political events. The series of lectures summarizes the history of European painting, sculpture and spatial design in the 1910s and 1920s. The focus is on the beginnings of artistic avant-gardes and the paths of opinion transformations in art in the wider context of historical-political events.
Basic knowledge of the trends of European painting and sculpture in 1900-1920.
Prerequisites
Attendance of the lecture series DVU/BEU19 - 19th Century European Art.
