  • Ondřej Vladan, doc. RNDr. Ph.D.
Course content
Principles of light microscopy, phase contrast, Nomarski differential contrast. Fluorescence microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, techniques utilising interactions of fluorescent signals (FRAP, FRET, FLIM), correlative microscopy. Methods for fluorescent labeling of samples (immunohistochemical staining, fluorochromes for in vivo microscopy, fluorescent proteins). Image analysis - co-localization signals, measuring the intensity, size, counting objects. Softwares.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Demonstration, Projection (static, dynamic)
Learning outcomes
Students will meet new trends in the field of light microscopy, which form an integral part of most branches of biology. Software processing of acquired image data will complement the microscopic part.
After completing the course the student should: - apply the techniques of light microscopy - label samples with fluorochromes according to standard protocols - obtain and process the image data
Prerequisites
-

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam, Student performance

participation + practical preparation of samples and processing of image data
