Course content
Chemical literature - its sources and division. Identification numbers - types and structure. Use of programs for creation of chemical formulae. Searching services and application of information databases on internet. Information sources available at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc. Use of selected chemical databases (e.g. SciFinder, Web of Science, Reaxys). Practical demonstration of a literature review, individual literature review.

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on practical use of modern information resources in chemistry.
Recall the basic classification of chemical literature and information sources. Internet sources of chemical information. Knowledge of searching in basic chemical databases. Describe the substance of literature review in scientific research. Scientometrics.
Prerequisites
Knoweledges of secondary school informatics.

Seminar Work

Prepare a literature review on selected topic.
