Course content
1. General Chemistry - basic chemical conceptions and laws - elementary particles of matter - atomic nucleus, radioactivity, nuclear reactions - models of the atom - electronic structure of atoms - electromagnetic spectrum - periodic table, periodic law of elements, periodic properties (ionization energy, electron affinity, electronegativity) - chemical bond, intermolecular interactions - oxidation number, common oxidation states of elements in the compounds - nomenclature of inorganic and coordination compounds - Lewis formula - Hybridization theory, VSEPR model, Molecular orbital theory - classification of chemical reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions, catalysis - chemical equilibrium (Guldberg - Waage law, principle of Le Chatelier and Braun) - solutions, acids, bases, pH 2. Physical Chemistry - state of matter (gas, liquid, solid) - electrolysis, galvanic cell, electrochemical series - basic principles of mixture separation (crystallization, distillation, sublimation, extraction, chromatography) 3. Inorganic Chemistry - non-metals (hydrogen, oxygen, halogens, sulphur, nitrogen, carbon and their compounds) - metals (alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, aluminium, lead, tin, transition metals) - production of important metals - importance of some elements and their inorganic compounds in living organisms, in health service, building industry and jewellery 4. Analytic Chemistry - qualitative analysis (selected group and selective agents, their significance) - quantitative analysis (gravimetry, volumetry) 5. Organic Chemistry - nomenclature of organic compounds - hydrocarbons, hydrocarbon derivatives, heterocyclic compounds - stereochemistry and isomerism of organic compounds - classification and mechanisms of organic reactions, polyreactions in organic chemistry (significant macromolecular substance) 6. Biochemistry - chemistry of natural substances (carbohydrates, lipids and proteins metabolism) - nucleic acids, enzymes, vitamins, hormones

Learning outcomes
The lecture and seminar is addressed to students of the second year of their master degree teaching qualification. The aim of the course is the recapitulation of fundamental chemistry knowledge and theories. The course is also focused on the completion of the particular fields of chemistry.
Description of basic chemical conceptions and laws from all chemistry disciplines.
Prerequisites
Successfully completed course in Didactics of Chemistry (AFC/DICH).
