Course content

Polemical literature of the 17th century 7. Cossack chronicles 8. Dramatic works of Feofan Prokopovych 9. Vertepna drama and its meaning 10. Lyrical works of the Ukrainian Baroque 11. Philosophical works and their themes 12. H.S.Skovoroda ? fabulist, philosopher, pedagogue 13. credit test

Learning outcomes
The course continues to introduce students to Ukrainian literature of the late 14th-16th centuries and helps to develop an understanding of the various genres. In particular, Cossack chronicles, edifying works, polemical literature, preachers' works, and developments in the field of dramaturgy are examined. Much attention is paid to the philosophy and artistic work of H.S. Skovoroda.
students learn the characteristics of emerging literary styles in Ukraine, basics of drama, meaning of schools and philosophical writings
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the Old Ukrainian literature, good knowledge of literary terminology and genres, understanding the European literary context and having completed the previous course on Ukrainian literature, KSU/UL1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Preparedness for each lesson, reading the assigned texts, understanding the European context of Ukrainian literature. Passing the credit test.
