Course content
|
1. Dynamic development of Russian language since the early 1990´s. 2. Perestrojka and appearance of internet. 3. Social changes in Russian society and structure of wordstock. 4. Gradual disappearance of a word statistics of usage. 5. Changes in speech etiquette (new politeness phrases, rules of behaviour). 6. Comeback of "novojaz/ newspeak" as a typical feature of contemporary political discourse.

Learning outcomes
|
The discipline is devoted to the study of changes in contemporary Russian language. Special attention is paid to the connections of language and speech behaviour and extralinguistic features, such as culture, politics, technical progress what mechanisms are exploited when language is affected, what kind of events take place in language on the verge of the periods. Contemporary language is studied, examples are taken from mass-media and internet. The objective is to help students perceive the contemporary language phenomena in a wider context of language develoment.
The student will obtain complex information on factors which influence development of contemporary Russian and will be able to give a complex evaluation of the language material.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of Russian language corresponding at least to C1 level. In case of foreign students, corresponding knowledge of Czech language. Knowledge of general linguistics as well as partial linguistic disciplines corresponding to the level of Mgr. study od Russian philology at Czech university. General knowledge of the issues in humanities and social sciences.
