| Course content |
|
1. Language picture of the world in the context of contemporary theoretical linguistics. 2. Mental representation of the world as a result of the reflection of the objective world. 3. Analysis of nation-specific concepts (e.g. Spanish, Russian, Swedish, Chinese, Yidish etc.). 4. Static quality of language picture of the world vs. dynamic quality of speech, discourse. 5. Current communicative strategies in Russian (in massmedia). 6. Connection between the peculiarities of discourse, national mentality and type of culture. 7. Types of culture - their relation to the quality of texts (examples from Russian massmedia).

The course provides complex information on the notion of language picture of the world - within the framework of contemporary theoretical linguistics. The notion is studied from the point of view of dynamism of speech activities, discourse and with respect to the nation-specific features of the cultures (types of texts).
The course will provide students with broad theoretical knowledge necessary to define the notion of the language picture of the world within the framework of contemporary theoretical linguistics. Moreover, students are shown the practival application of the ideas in reading and understanding current texts of Russian massmedia. |
| Prerequisites |

Knowledge of Russian language corresponding at least to C1 level. In case of foreign students, corresponding knowledge of Czech language. Knowledge of general linguistics as well as partial linguistic disciplines corresponding to the level of Mgr. study od Russian philology at Czech university. General knowledge of the issues in humanities and social sciences.
