1. Periodization of Russian literature. Writers, streams, schools. 2. Symbolism. Acmeism. Impresionism 3. Futurism, imaginism, OBERIU. 4. Russian Literature in the 1920s. 5. The Russian emigration. 6. Literature in the 1930s. 7. Literature and the Great Patriotic War. 8. Literature and GULAG. 9. Literature of the "Thaw" period 10. Era of stagnation. Underground. 11. Russian theater and drama. 12. Postmodernism.

These lectures present the students with the periodization of the development of Russian literature since the 20th century till the present day, the features of separate streams, movements and genres. We shall discuss the prominent writers who wrote in Russia or behind its boundaries and the reception of their work in Czech culture. We shall also focus on the phenomenon of Russian emigration and Russian literary theory of the 20th century, Russian literary aesthetics and Czech scholarly reception of Russian literature of the 20th century.
Students will understand the development of Russian literature in the 20th century and the method of literary analysis. |
| Prerequisites |

A practical knowledge of Russian, at least A2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Knowledge of the basic terminology of literary theory from the course Introduction to Literary Theory and the knowledge of theoretical basis as presented at the course Russian Literature of the 19th Century 1 and 2.
