Learning outcomes
This course is designed to familiarize students with some of the growing theorists and directors commonly classified as "queer cinema" as well as to practice discussing critical issues and films in English. By the end of the semester, students will be able to discuss fundamental critical theories (such as performativity, camp, and gaze) as well as a range of classic and newer works in the queer canon.

Students are expected to attend at least 70% of the courses in order to receive credit. The use of any AI beyond translation or grammar correction software is strictly forbidden. Students will need to complete the following in order to pass the course: 1) Active attendance (at least 70%) and discussion in the seminar 2) 1 scholarly research project on a film, the results of which will be presented twice, once as a 10 minute presentation around week 7 and lastly as a 15 minute presentation 3) Participation as part of a 3 member panel during the last weeks of the semester, where each panel students presents their projects and then takes questions from other members of the audience and panelists, as in a typical academic conference.
