The individual thematic blocks include approximately: 1. Type and typography: type in practice, rules of typesetting, typesetting composition, etc. 2. Typography - historical overview. 3. Typography in Czech book culture. 4. Important Czech typographers of the 20th century. 5. Trends in book typesetting - a presentation tutorial with examples. 6. Typographic contexts: typography as a creative tool, experiment, avant-garde typography, etc. 6. Typographic contexts: typographic society, nation, nationality and typography; 6. Typographic contexts: typography of public space.

The course combines a theoretical approach to typography as part of book culture with practical typography. The main objectives of the course are: - introduction to the basic typographic rules; - introducing selected examples of good and bad practice; - introduction to the historical development of modern (Czech) book typography; - placing typography in the context of the humanities.
