Learning outcomes
|
This is the first semester of a two-semester course for students of Journalism with a good command of English. It will develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills mainly in dealing with specialized texts related to the students´ respective fields of studies. Length of the course: 2 semesters The student receives 4 credits at the end of each of the two semesters (the total of 8 credits). When the students succeed in fulfilling the requirements for both semesters, they can sit for the exam (AZUPZ). When they pass the exam sucessfully, they receive 2 credits. Total number of credits for the course: 10 By attending the two-term course and passing the exam students reach the B1+ level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The students will improve their knowledge of grammar and communication skills. The students will learn how to read and practice reading subject-related texts. The students will enlarge their knowledge of subject-related vocabulary. By attending the two-term course and passing the exam students reach the B1+ level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam
-Attendance (max. 2 absences, student must be prepared for the next lesson regardless of his/her previous absence), active participation, homework, one test at the end of the semester. - Active participation in class - All requirements must be fulfilled before the end of the examination period of the semester Students are required to arrive in class on time, fully prepared and in an acceptable hygienic state.
